“In the name of the best within you, do not sacrifice this world to those who are its worst. In the name of the values that keep you alive, do not let your vision of man be distorted by the ugly, the cowardly, the mindless in those who have never achieved his title. Do not lose your knowledge that man's proper estate is an upright posture, an intransigent mind and a step that travels unlimited roads. Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it's yours.”
Ayn Rand
Such sights are for somebody, who lives in narrow Central Europe quite extremely. This is a really good picture.

Now that is one long straight road. An amazing view, we have nothing like that over here, all our roads twist and turn.

A very imposing image, I like the sense of freedom, of course the text is beautiful, although we have to learn to live with what we have been given to learn, first :)

Makes me think of the movie "Easy Rider". I agree with the words as a noble striving. The other side of the coin is that one has to learn to cope with desillusion, frustration feelings and disappointment, they don't let themselves simply be replaced by encouraging feelings in sight of a great goal. Personally I find it important to take a distance from yourself and assess your situation or what is occurring to you, or to consider a decision to be taken. How does all this fit in these words of Ayn Rand? BTW The image is very impressive especially for somebody from such a small country as ours!

Best I've seen today - love the wide view - and that side road tracking to the left - just a bit off the beaten path - nicely framed!

Everyone's already said what I was going to - looks like one the Romans might have built but of course they never got over the ocean

Very nice. There are three different landscapes in one shot.

Marvelous traveling weather you had! The view wasn't bad either, huh? Ayn is a cool author. "Anthem" is one of my most favorite books! =-)

And I thought the romans built a pretty mean straight road..

Ha i like the way the road SHOOTS up. Looks like if you zoomed down it fast enough you could just fly up into the sky!

Wow, what a straight road...never seen one like that. It gives me a feeling of taking off.
