The sun is 92,955,807 miles from the earth. It takes the sunlight a little over 8 minutes to get to us traveling at 186,282 miles per second. 1 astronomical unit (or AU) is the distance between the sun and earth. Amazing.

Rags says life would be miserable without the sun, I think it would be impossible at all. Great capture of this fireball, did you use some filter or was the atmosphere misty? Looks like an E.T. picture on an earthlike, far-away planet. I'm also fascinated by astronomical figures and facts, e.g. there are 200 billions of these suns in our galaxy and there are incountable numbers of galaxies in the universe.

Nice composition on this. I love it when sunrises/sunsets are caught without the glare and you get this wonderful definition. I like this shot. =-)
